Nadi Shodhana – balances the nervous system
Ujjayi – focuses the mind and builds internal heat
Kapalabhati – energizes and clears mental fog
Bhramari – soothes the mind through sound and vibration
Breath is the foundation of all transformation — physical, mental, and spiritual.
🔒 Bandhas – Energetic Locks
Our more advanced classes may introduce the use of bandhas, subtle internal “locks” that help contain and direct the flow of energy (prana) in the body.
Mula Bandha – root lock, engaging the pelvic floor
Uddiyana Bandha – abdominal lock, drawing energy upward
Jalandhara Bandha – throat lock, guiding prana to higher awareness

Mantra Chanting – The Power of Sound
At Eshara, we often incorporate mantra chanting — the repetition of sacred sounds or phrases — as a way to center the mind, open the heart, and create a deeper energetic connection to the practice.
Whether it’s the grounding resonance of “Om”, the rhythmic flow of Sanskrit verses, or a joyful call-and-response (kirtan), chanting offers a direct experience of vibration — moving beyond words and thoughts into pure presence.
Why We Chant “Om” – The Primordial Sound
At the beginning or end of class, we often chant “Om” — considered the primordial sound of the universe.
“Om” (sometimes spelled AUM) represents universal consciousness, the source of all creation, and the union of body, mind, and spirit.
It contains three parts:
A – the waking state (conscious mind)
U – the dreaming state (subconscious mind)
M – the deep sleep state (unconscious mind)
And the silence after – pure awareness, or the infinite.
By chanting Om, we tune ourselves to the natural vibration of the universe and enter a more centered and receptive state for practice or meditation.
“Om Shanti Shanti Shanti” – The Closing Mantra of Peace
We often close our classes with the mantra:
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti
This beautiful phrase is traditionally used to invoke peace on multiple levels:
First Shanti – peace in the physical world (environment, body, external conditions)
Second Shanti– peace in the mental and emotional world (thoughts, feelings, internal conflict)
Third Shanti – peace in the spiritual realm (soul, higher consciousness, divine connection)
Chanting Om Shanti Shanti Shanti is a way to seal the practice — to integrate its benefits and to send peace outward: to ourselves, each other, and the world around us.
It is a blessing, a prayer, and a transition — from the sacred space of practice back into daily life.
